Therapy Professionals provides:

Assessment
Clients or workspaces are assessed by:

    • one therapist and/or
    • the combined team.

Treatment
All plans that are designed by therapists and can be delivered by:

 
    • the therapist prescribing treatment
    • another therapist working jointly with a client
    • a therapy assistant
    • the client(s)
    • the client's caregivers
    • the staff at the workplace
All treatments are based on achievable functional goals and may include equipment prescriptions. All therapists are able to prescribe for equipment in their specialist area, depending on the funding stream.


Group Programmes

All group programmes are specifically designed to meet the needs of the group. The possible range of activities is almost limitless.

Group Exercises are planned by physiotherapists to meet the needs of the groups, - from the fit to the very disabled. Exercise classes are conducted by:

    • physiotherapists
    • trained and supervised assistants

Group Activities focus on mobility, craft and hobbies, music, motor and sensory stimulation.

All Group Activities can be designed for delivery by:

    • the therapist designing the programme
    • another therapist working jointly with the client
    • a therapy assistant
    • the client
    • the client's caregiver
 

Education

Therapy Professionals Ltd believe education of caregivers and/or employees is more than delivering a lecture or leaving a list of instructions. It must:

    • be about changing work practices and lifestyles
    • involve the students and relate to their experience
    • be a partnership between teacher, student and employee

In keeping with this philosophy, Therapy Professionals teaching packages are tailored to the needs of each group, and may include:

    • talks, practical demonstrations and handouts
    • time for learners to practise
    • problem solving from learners workplace experience
    • assessment of each student's competence
    • follow-up supervision

Education and training can occur:

    • at the workplace
    • in the home
    • at Therapy Professionals Ltd

Education for Implementing Therapy Plans, Activities and Music

Over the past four years Therapy Professionals Ltd has offered education to carers on a variety of different topics. All have been well received.

This year Therapy Professionals has packaged all the sessions together and is offering the education to a wider group.

The education packages can include sessions on:

    • activites and music
    • communication
    • dementia
    • equipment that assists independence
    • exercise for the elderly
    • muscle and bone changes with age
    • nutrition management
    • positioning
    • pressure care
    • introduction to safe client handling
    • working with strokes and other neurological disorders
    • swallowing problems

Therapy Professionals will design any education package to suit clients' needs.

Safety in the Home and Workplace

The focus of this service is prevention of illness and injury. We have staff specialised in:

    • safe handling
    • back care and general fitness
    • building modifications
    • safe food handling
    • ergonomics

The therapists aim to involve workers in their own safety. This is essential if workplace habits are to change.

Consultation

The therapists are available to provide advice or supervision to employees, caregivers, activity officers and to any therapists working alone.
